Last week, the interior design plans for the redevelopment of Edenhope & District Memorial Hospital’s Aged care facility was presented to the community at the Elsie Bennett Centre.
“We have contracted Design Worldwide Partnership who have put together the architectural and interior designs for the redevelopment” said acting EDMH CEO Andrew Saunders.
“These guys have a huge amount of experience and have been involved in a number of health facility builds”
“This presentation is to show where we are at, at the moment, the designs are evolving and we would love comments and feedback from the community”
“The designers are aiming to create a homely space for residents. The styling is eclectic, they achieve this by layering styles from many different eras, these will be constantly changing creating a rich and homely space.
The redevelopment will cater for the residents various interests, there is a music corner, built in bookshelves, a hair dressing salon, Café style spaces, activity rooms and meeting places.
Current Lakes Hostel resident Louis Kruse came along to the presentation and was pleased with what she saw “It all looks pretty good to me” she said
Current staff member and Leisure & Lifestyle co-ordinator at the Lakes Hostel, Helen was thrilled with the plans “I really like the activity room, we need a designated space for activities. They have created a space that can be expanded if needed or closed off if we want to be more private. It will also mean I can be prepared and set up the activities ahead of time.”
Board member, and relative of a current resident Jo Murdoch was impressed with the plans “It looks lovely, a homely space”.
“We have copies of the slides from the presentation on our website www.edmh.org.au, we would love people to have a let us know what they think.” Said, Mr Saunders.
