Designer Samantha Sacks shares the secret to designing an elegant mid-century modern space. See how she mixes colour, pattern and vintage heirloom furniture to liven up a Victorian home.
Samantha chose a geometric mid-century rug with Indian influences as the jumping off point to the rest of the decor. The homeowners had a lot of great mid-century furniture passed down from generations, like an old record table, but it needed some updating. She upholstered those pieces with lighter fabrics and brought in graphic patterned pillows and a fur throw to soften the look. Crisp white walls freshen up the space, while vintage chairs bring just the right amount of warmth to the dining table. The result is a stylish, liveable space with sentimental value that mixes old and new.

Dont care for the rug !
I like everything but the rug and dinning room chairs. Otherwise everything else is very beautiful!
Gorgeous!
thumbs down.. video title should be "How to NOT get the mid-century modern look"… cause thats precisely what she did…
I am sorry, at first I thought that this must be the "before" picture.
This is not mid century modern!!
Looks eclectic to me.
"Madmany" "schticky" whatever does she mean
I need her digits!
that rug ruined it!!
There is nothing midcentury about this room- more like Scandinavian/Bohemian, stuff you can find on apartmenttherapy in droves.
I don't like this woman she sounds Schticky>>.that carpet wrecked the whole design
Did she learn the adjective "mad men-y" in design school?
Great job! Beautiful rug. LOVE the dining chairs. I like the respect for existing moldings. And a HUGE thank you for NOT putting a TV above the fireplace!!!
That's just..not it. All you've done there is taken old furniture and showcased it in a contemporary setting. No one's house looked like that in the fifties or sixties, but it would be typical for a home now.
One more thing, are you serious about the rattan covering and grandpas old stereo unit. It looks like you Toss both of them outside during a hurricane and spray glue on the stereo unit. I mean come on do you really want that in your film ouch
Where's the mid century modern stuff?! Do you know what the word means? I especially like the legs on the dining room table they just fit in perfectly. The only thing in there that Really looks mid century modern is the coffee table. Ugly room
I like the mix and somehow the black and white in the foyer and more than anything the brick wall ties it all together. I think without those two elements, the home might have felt sort of cold and bare maybe? so I dig it. but I really feel like something is missing in the dining area. just one fairly big piece of wall art and maybe a simple rug under the table would make the space seem a little more complete.
..buuut that's just my opinion and I'm entitled to it. 😜

Ugly rug looks like Easter all year.
If my dog threw up on the rug It would be a great excuse to throw it out.
"It's also kind of Indian to me."
Spoken like a truly ignorant racist.
I like almost every thing except the rug. It doesn't even fit with the decor.
This does not scream Mid Century to me. To busy.
